Garda arrested in connection with alleged sex assault

A serving garda has been arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault.

It is understood the garda was detained in the midlands region early this morning and is now being questioned at Loughrea Garda station, where he is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
