Group to ballot firefighters on industrial action

The Irish Fire and Emergency Services Association is to ballot members on industrial action, including strike.

The group is opposed to the Government's planned strategy for fire services around the country, called 'Keeping Communities Safe'.

It said the plan will lead to job losses for hundreds of firefighters, including more than 100 workers in Dublin alone, and that staff reductions will put the public at risk as a result.
