Thousands expected for anti-austerity march in Dublin

Gardaí will be out in force today as anti-austerity campaigners predict up to 50,000 people will take part in a pre-Budget march in Dublin.

Unions across all sectors, as well as groups representing the elderly and students, will march and voice their opposition to any further cutbacks or taxes in next year's Budget.

The demonstration begins at the Garden of Remembrance on Parnell Square at 1pm, and will then move to O'Connell Street and across the Liffey before returning to the GPO.
