Dubliner sent forward for trial over SHM stabbing incident

A Dublin man has been sent forward for trial accused of stabbing a tourist at the Swedish House Mafia concert in the Phoenix Park last summer.

22-year-old Raymond Donnan of Greenfort Crescent, Clondalkin is charged with violent disorder and assault causing harm to 28-year-old Andrew England on July 7, 2012.

The repeated stabbing of Andrew England was one of several incidents at the Swedish House Mafia gig that resulted in a garda review of security at this type of large-scale, outdoor concert.

Raymond Donnan is charged with violent disorder at the Phoenix Park and with assault causing harm to the Isle of Man tourist who had intervened in a row.

The DPP has decided to drop three other charges against the 22-year-old, two were public order matters and the third was production of a knife.

Raymond Donnan, who is on High Court bail, was in court today, dressed in grey tracksuit bottoms, a red, hooded top and trainers.

Garda Shane McCartan told the court that he has been served with the book of evidence.

The DPP directed the trial on indictment and Judge Bryan Smyth has sent him forward to the current sittings of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
