A 35-year-old Dublin man has been acquitted of murder by direction of the trial judge.

Paul Zambra of Inagh Road, Ballyfermot had pleaded not guilty to murdering Seán McMahon five years ago at his home on Donaghmore Avenue, Tallaght.

The 36-year-old was found dead by his partner on November 14, 2007. He had been shot in his bed.

The trial judge dealt with legal issues in the absence of the jury before directing the accused was to be acquitted based on the evidence before the court.
