The Public Interest directors of the bailed-out banks could be quizzed about their roles.

The Oireachtas Finance Committee is inviting them to appear before it, to explain how they serve the public interest on the boards of the state-covered banks.

The directors were appointed by the Minister for Finance as part of the bank guarantee.
