Man shot dead on M1

A man was shot dead today as he drove to work on a motorway in Northern Ireland.

He was ambushed between the Lurgan and Portadown junctions of the M1 in County Armagh, the Police Service of Northern Ireland said.

It is understood there were several shots. The man’s car careered off the road and he died later.

It is believed he was heading towards Belfast on his way to work.
