An advocate of a Yes vote in the Children's Referendum is seeking to allay fears that the state will be able to take children away from parents easily - if the referendum is passed.

Five Non-Government Organisations have come together today to call for a Yes vote on November 10th.

Included in those groups are Arc Adoption, Treoir, Inclusion Ireland, Childminding Ireland and the Irish Youth Foundation.

Independent Senator Jillian Van Turnhout is also in favour of the referendum - she said that any intervention by the state would be proportionate to the risk posed to the child:
