The army bomb disposal team made safe a viable explosive device in west Dublin overnight.

The device was found outside a house in the Ardglen area of Lucan and was made safe by a controlled explosion shortly after 1am.

In a separate incident, another bomb disposal squad was deployed to Cappagh Road in Finglas to conduct a post-blast analysis of a device found outside a house by gardaí

The Army Bomb Disposal team has now resonded to 167 callouts so far this year and dealt with 78 viable devices.
