New insurance company urge government not to increase levy

A new health insurance company will appear before the Oireachtas Health Committee today to urge the government not to increase the health insurance levy.

GloHealth says an increase in the levy will mean higher premiums for customers.

The levy was designed to help insurers with their differing costs and most of it goes to the VHI, which has a higher proportion of older customers.
