Welsh police find burnt out car but can't confirm if it belongs to missing Irish woman

Police in Wales say a burnt out Renault Clio has been found near Mold but they are unable to confirm at this stage whether the vehicle is that of missing Irish woman Catherine Gowing.

They are holding a 46-year-old Welsh man on suspicion of murdering the 37-year-old Offaly native.

Investigators say it is been classified as a murder investigation because her disappearance is completely out of character.

Catherine went missing seven days ago. She was last seen buying a supermarket pizza after leaving work in Mold on Friday evening.

Earlier it emerged that the vet had sent an unfinished text message to a colleague over the weekend, which raised concern about her safety.
