HSE to investigate after ambulance driver crashes during 22-hour work shift
The HSE has launched an investigation after a paramedic fell asleep and crashed an ambulance after working a 22-hour shift.
The Irish Examiner reported that neither the driver nor the passenger was seriously injured in the incident, which occurred at 6am yesterday morning in Castletownbere in Co Cork.
It is understood the ambulance crashed into an ESB pole.
A HSE South spokesperson has declined to confirm the details of the crash, only saying an "incident" occurred and an "internal investigation is underway".
