Man convicted of murdering former lover

A Dublin man living in Co Laois has been convicted of murdering a mother-of-one in a neighbouring flat.

Jason Daly of PJ Delaney Flats, Main Street, Mountrath will be given the mandatory life sentence after victim impact evidence is heard at the Central Criminal Court next Friday.

The jury took just under one and a half hours to convict the 42-year-old who used a pillow to strangle 30-year-old Diane Burroughs in her flat on April 16 last year.

They had an on-off relationship.
