Kenny to examine further public sector savings

The Taoiseach is meeting with the Croke Park Implementation Body this afternoon to examine how further public sector savings can be achieved.
It comes after the Minister for Public Expenditure Brendan Howlin last night announced that he is to cut 88 allowances from current public sector workers from next February.
It is still not known which allowances are to go but it is understood they will include a wide range of workers, including gardai, nurses, soldiers and local authority workers.
Enda Kenny has defended the government's decision to cut allowances for public sector workers.
He says there is clear evidence that new savings can be achieved.
