A German ice hockey team have sparked controversy after being sponsored by a local brothel.

The Landshut Cannibals, who are based in Bavaria, will be sponsored by a brothel called Lustra and as a result the club's home kit is now pink and will feature the brothel's logo emblazoned on their shirts.

Jürgen Eichbauer, team spokesman for the Cannibals, told local paper Süddeutsche Zeitung: "The operators of the brothel are legal people who do their business honestly and pay taxes.

"No wild-west methods are used, and the women are not forced. Prostitution is the oldest business in the world and therefore the cooperation is not objectionable to us."

But the news hasn't gone down well with everyone as after hearing what Lustra does, fashion chain Wöhrl dropped out of a co-sponsorship deal.
