Gardaí 'followed up call' in connection with Sligo death
Gardaí investigating the death of Eugene Gillespie in Sligo town say they followed up on a 999 call made last Thursday alerting them that a man was tied up inside a house with a 'brown gate'.
The 67-year-old was found badly injured at his home on Market Street in Sligo last Friday and died in hospital the following day.
Gardaí say they responded to the call which was made by a young man, went to the house as described, and were satisfied there was 'nothing untoward'.
It Is thought Eugene Gillespie died following an aggravated burglary and a murder investigation is now underway.
