Gardaí investigate Sligo pensioner's murder

Gardaí have upgraded their investigation into the death of man in Sligo to murder.

Eugene Gillespie died after he was found tied up and injured in his home on Old Market Street on Friday night.

The 67-year-old was taken to Sligo General Hospital, where he later died.

The results of a post mortem have not been released due to operational reasons.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything around the Old Market Street area of Sligo town between 9pm on Wednesday and 9pm on Friday to come forward.
