Man dies after assault in Cork

A 57-year-old man who was assaulted in Co. Cork at the weekend has died in hospital.
Patsy Deasy is believed to have been assaulted outside the Redcove Inn in Mahon in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The 57-year-old was brought to Cork University Hospital with a serious head injury, but he died early this afternoon.
The State pathologist's office has been notified and Gardaí are said to be following a definite line of inquiry.
Gardaí in Blackrock are appealing for witnesses - in particular, they are looking to speak to anyone who was outside the pub at around 1am on Saturday, and saw the incident, to come forward.
