A fisherman has been rescued off the East Cork coast, after his propeller became fouled three miles south of Ballycotton lighthouse.

A fisherman has been rescued off the East Cork coast, after his propeller became fouled three miles south of Ballycotton lighthouse.

He contacted the emergency services seeking assistance shortly after 4pm this afternoon.

The Ballycotton lifeboat was dispatched and arrived on scene to find the 20 foot fishing vessel still attached to the net and cut it free.

The vessel was towed back to Ballycotton harbour at 5.30pm this evening.
