Gardaí have made 14 arrests in Dublin, Meath and Kildare this morning as part of an investigation into paramilitary activity.

Gardaí have made around 14 arrests in Dublin, Meath and Kildare this morning as part of an investigation into paramilitary activity.

The investigation was launched after shots were fired around the coffin of Alan Ryan, a known member of the Real IRA, last Saturday.

During the operation 13 men and 1 woman were arrested.

They are being detained at a number of garda stations in Dublin and Meath under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act,1939.

This morning's operation 'Ambience' involved more than 200 gardaí, including members of the Special Detective Unit, the Emergency Response Unit and the Garda Dog Unit.
