Protest against cuts to home help ends

A protest against planned HSE cuts to home help and home care packages has ended in Dublin.

A group of about 60 people gathered earlier outside Government Buildings, as a seperate protest over cuts to personal assistants was called off - after a breakthrough there.

The home help protest was organised by the newly-formed Home Care Community Action Group - they say another demonstration will be held later in the month to maintain focus on the issue.

John Lyons of the People Before Profit Alliance, which supported the demo, said that it is important the public understand the effect cuts will have.
