Dublin City Council wants action on migrant worker loophole
Dublin City Councillors are calling on the Jobs Minister Richard Bruton to immediately explain how he plans to deal with the issue of protection for migrant workers.
It comes in the wake of a recent High Court decision, which exposed a loophole in the law.
The High Court ruled that a Pakistani worker who was awarded thousands of euro in compensation for breaches of employment law, was not entitled to the money because his employment contract cannot be recognised.
Dublin Councillor Jane Horgan-Jones said all councillors unanimously agreed at last night's council meeting that urgent action needs to be taken by the Minister to resolve the issue.
