Man shot in Bunratty Castle Hotel car park
A man in his 20s was fighting for his life after two men shot him several times in an attack in a hotel car park.
The injured man was approached just before 4am in the grounds of Bunratty Castle Hotel, Co Clare where the shooting occurred.
He was shot a number of times.
The gunmen fled the scene in a waiting black coloured car, a garda spokesman said.
The injured man was being treated in the Mid-western Regional Hospital Limerick where his condition is described as critical.
Gardaí said a firearm was recovered by investigating officers near the scene.
Forensic examinations are to take place in and around the car park today and an incident room has been set up at Shannon garda station.
No arrests have been made and inquiries are on-going, a spokesman added.
