97 year old message in bottle found
A message in a bottle has been found after 97 years.
Guinness World Record officials have confirmed the note, which was discovered off the Shetland Isles in Scotland, has set a new world record for the longest time a bottle has been adrift at sea, beating the previous milestone by five years.
Andrew Leaper discovered the bottle on the same boat which had set the previous record, and he admits finding the letter was like "winning the lottery twice".
He said: "I am immensely proud to be the finder of the world record message in a bottle. It was very exciting to find the bottle and I couldn't wait to open it.
"It's like winning the lottery twice."
