Students will have to pay in future - UCC finance officer

The chief financial officer at UCC says students are likely to have to pay for the cost of third level education in the future.

Almost 40,000 students will make the move from secondary school to college over the next month.

They already face a registration fee of €2,250 which looks set to increase in the coming years.

However, chief financial officer at UCC, Diarmuid Collins, says students are the ultimate beneficiaries of education and the state simply can't afford to pay at the moment.
