Weather keeps Tall Ships in Ireland for extra day

A severe weather alert is preventing almost 50 ships docked in Dublin Port from leaving the country.

The vessels are in the capital as part of the Tall Ships Festival and they will not be able to leave Ireland for another 24 hours.

It is understood that the ships are leaving Dublin Port as planned, but will shelter in other ports around coast.

Today's Parade of Sail marks the end of the festival and hundreds of people have already turned out at Dublin's docklands for the event.
