Woman killed in Mullingar collision
Gardaí in Mullingar are investigating a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred at Ballagh on the Delvin Road outside Mullingar at approximately 6pm this evening.
The driver of one of the cars, a woman in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two passengers in the car, a 14 and seven year old girl, were taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar. The seven year old is described as being in a critical condition and the 14 year old as having minor injuries.
The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle, a male in his 40s, was taken to Tallaght Hospital with injuries described as not life threatening.
This stretch of road is currently closed pending completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
