New website allows consumers to check firms' financial status

A new website designed to inject consumer confidence back into the economy goes online today: creditcheck.ie.

Anyone can go online now and check a firms' financial status, credit history and general background.

Spokesperson Christine Cullen says the site helps filter out the risky companies, so the public can do business with better firms: "Consumers and small business can do one-off on-demand searches. The website is updated three times daily with judgements and full background history, even going into the court services.

"It goes into quite an in-depth overview of the company for less than the price of a cup of coffee."
