Gardaí say they are now treating the death of an elderly man in Wexford as murder.

The body of Walter Plunkett was found in the garden of his home in Ballyedmond, Enniscorthy, yesterday afternoon.

A post mortem on the remains of the 84 year-old showed he died as a result of asphyxiation.

A 50 year-old woman was arrested at the scene in connection with the investigation and is currently being held at Enniscorthy Garda Station.
