The Irish League of Credit Unions says it's seen a significant increase in the number of applications for student loans.

Third Level students seem to be anticipating higher costs next academic year, after increases to registration fees.

The ILCU says their research shows 72% of students still rely on their parents to fund their third level education, while 55% of students work.

On top of academic fees, average monthly spend - excluding rent and bills - stands at approximately €480.

Half of the students surveyed rent accommodation spend an average of €330 on rent a month, plus €70 on bills.
