CSO: 80% of Garda stations record one crime a day

The majority of Garda stations around the country are recording just one crime or less per day, according to the latest statistics from the CSO.
The figures show that recorded crime here is very low in most parts of the country.
Of the 704 Garda stations, 80% recorded just one crime or less per day last year.
Additionally, 41% recorded one crime or less per week.
Store Street station in Dublin is the busiest Garda station - with 8,510 crimes recorded there in 2011.
The figures are expected to add weight to the government's policy of closing Garda stations around the country.
Already 39 have shut this year, and the Justice Minister has said he intends to close more in the future.
