'Dream come true' as Nevin brings sliver home to Mullingar

Olympic silver medallist John Joe Nevin has described his homecoming reception in Mullingar as a 'dream come true'.

The boxer met with family and friends before being paraded through the town to a rapturous response.

Over 6,000 including One Direction’s Niall Horan lined the streets of the Westmeath town to welcome back the bantamweight.

Led by the Mullingar town band the 23-year-old, and fellow Olympian athlete Joseph Murphy, were given a rapturous greeting as they drove by in an open top bus.
