Visitors witness birth of giraffe in Fota Wildlife Park

Visitors to Fota Wildlife Park in Cork had the honour of witnessing the birth of a baby giraffe today.

Shortly before 4pm, Sapphire - the mother giraffe - gave birth in front of a huge crowd.

The newest calf joins another female born to Mother Bláithín and Father Walda in July.

Both babies are yet to be named and Fota Wildlife Park will be asking for suggestions via their Facebook page.
