Man fighting for his life after Tuam assault

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, after a man was assaulted in Tuam Co. Galway overnight.

He is now fighting for his life in hospital and a teenager has been arrested.

At around 3.30am this morning, a 22-year-old man was attacked by a number of men on the Miltown Road in Tuam.

It is understood a rock was thrown at him and he sustained severe head injuries.

He was rushed to the Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he is now said to be in a serious condition.

Investigating officers arrested an 18-year-old man shortly after the incident and he is being detained at Tuam Garda Station.
