Judge apologises after likening Social Welfare to charity for Polish people

A District Court Judge has apologised for likening Social Welfare to charity for Polish people.

Judge Mary Devins made the comment during a recent District Court hearing in Mayo.

Judge Devins this evening said she wished to clarify the comment - claiming it was intended to be specific to one incident and was never intended to offend the Polish community.
