No decision made on vending machines in schools

A member of the Government's Special Action Group on Obesity has said no decision has been made on banning fizzy drink machines in secondary schools.

It is reported the group has ruled out such a ban, because they make too much money.

That is despite a campaign by the Health Minister James Reilly to tackle obesity in Ireland.

Consultant Endocrinologist Professor Donal O'Shea of the Irish Heart Foundation has said no decision has been made, and as far as he is concerned, vending machines in secondary schools have to be banned.
