Firefighters bring warehouse blaze under control

Firefighters have brought a blaze at a warehouse just outside Castlebar in Mayo under control.

It broke out shortly after staff had left Niland's Cash and Carry at Moneen Industrial Estate earlier this evening.

It took five units of Mayo Fire Brigade over four hours to bring the flames under control.

The cause of the fire is not yet known but it is understood there was nobody in the building at the time.

Gardaí say they will be investigating the circumstances of the fire, and a forensic examination will be carried out.
