Rabbitte's comments come after one of his ministerial colleagues refused to express confidence in Health Minister James Reilly.

Junior Health Minister Roisin Shortall is at loggerheads with Doctor Reilly - after he failed to tell her in advance of the resignation of HSE boss Cathal Magee.

Minister Rabbitte says he won't let personality issues get in the way of the job of government.

"All I know is that the government is single-minded and unified, focusing on trying to bring this country back to economic recovery. Any personality squabbles won't deter from the main focus.

"There are always different personalities who rub up against each other, nothing surprising about that."
