Drumm: Hospital delays put project at risk

The former head of the HSE Brendan Drumm says every year that the new Children's Hospital is delayed puts the project at risk.

The Government has delayed making a decision on a new site for the facility until the Autumn but it's understood that the Mater site and St James' Hospital are the final two locations in the running.

Professor Drumm says a decision needs to be made because the money may be spent elsewhere: "Making the decision is critical, whichever site is picked. Each year we lose with this, the money is being eaten up in other projects.

"The real danger is that this project will get done but in 10 years time."
