A Scottish man who served time in jail here for sending two hoax bomb threat emails to Heathrow Airport has been detained in Dublin on a European Arrest Warrant.

Adam Busby (aged 63) is wanted in Scotland for allegedly making further hoax threats including a text message to the Scottish Sun newspaper that a package containing a noxious substance had been sent to the then British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Adam Busby is facing extradition on seven charges. Five relate to hoax bomb threats received by the Samaritans and media organisations in Scotland in 2010.

A sixth charge relates to a threat made by phone to the Scottish Sun newspaper about the Scottish National Liberation Army contaminating English water supplies.

He is also accused of sending a text message - again to the Scottish Sun – claiming a poison package had been sent to Mr Brown.

He was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant at Granby Road in Dublin city centre this morning and appeared before the High Court.

He has been remanded in custody until the end of the month.
