No bail for concert stabbing accused

Bail has been refused for a 22-year-old Dublin man who was today charged in connection with the stabbing of an Isle of Man tourist at last Saturday's Swedish House Mafia concert in the Phoenix Park.

Raymond Donnan of Greenfort Crescent in Clondalkin faces five charges, including public order offences, assault causing harm, violent disorder and production of a knife.

The court heard that Andrew England from the Isle of Man was stabbed five times at last Saturday's concert after going to help a girl involved in an altercation.

The 28-year-old tourist has suffered damage to his liver as a result of what was described as an unprovoked attack.

Sergeant Shane McCartan said a general melee then broke out in the Phoenix Park with around eight men punching and kicking nearby concertgoers, with one man having a bottle broken over his head.

The court heard that Raymond Donnan was arrested just before 10pm and made no reply when he was charged yesterday at Blanchardstown garda station.

Judge Grainne Malone refused to grant the 22-year-old bail following garda objections about the seriousness of the charge and has remanded him until Friday.
