Adams: McGuinness-Queen handshake a 'real gesture beyond rhetoric'

Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has described the handshake between Martin McGuinness and Queen Elizabeth as "a real gesture which goes beyond rhetoric".

Mr McGuinness shook hands with the Queen at Belfast's Lyric theatre this morning. During their meeting he welcomed the Queen in Irish and acknowledged the significance of the event and the need to build on it.
