The number of planning permissions granted for new homes was down 63% in the first quarter of the year, according to new figures released today by the Central Statistics Office.

The number of planning permissions granted for new homes was down 63% in the first quarter of the year, according to new figures released today by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Some 1,355 'dwelling units' got the green light between January and March, compared to 3,667 in the same period last year.
