Gardaí make record-breaking drugs seizure
Gardaí have said they have made one of the biggest drugs seizures in the history of the State.
Two men have been arrested after cocaine thought to be worth approximately €28m was found in seperate searches in Dublin and Kildare.
The Garda National Drugs Unit, working with colleagues from the Revenue Customs Service, made the discoveries as part of an ongoing operation targeting organised crime.
One man, aged 42, was arrested in Tallaght where gardaí also seized a vehicle and 50kgs of cocaine.
During follow-up searches in the west Dublin and Kildare areas, a second man, aged 31, was detained, and gardaí seized more cocaine, thought to be in excess of 300kgs.
The two men are currently detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
