Gardaí have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a man in Dublin over the weekend.

Gardaí have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a man in Dublin over the weekend.

The victim has been named as 55-year-old, Eugene Moloney, a well known journalist, who worked for many years for the Irish Independent.

It is understood Mr Moloney was attacked after he was confronted by a number of men on Camden Street at around 4am on Sunday morning.

Two men in their 20s have been arrested in connection with the attack and are being questioned at Kevin and Pearse St Garda stations.
