Ulster Bank admits backlog may take all week to clear

Opening hours at 80 Ulster Bank branches will be extended until 6pm today, in a bid to get through a backlog of transactions caused by a technical malfunction.

The fault in the bank's IT system emerged last week and is said to have affected payment services for more than 100,000 customers.
