There have been mixed reaction today to the news of changes to Dáil seats and constituencies.

A new report - published today - is recommending a reduction of eight in the number of TDs - from 166 to 158.

The Constituency Commission is also proposing a redrawing of some boundaries and a cut in electoral divisions from 43 to 40.

Among the commission's recommendations, that Kerry should become a 5 seater constituency - Kerry North–West Limerick and Kerry South currently each return 3 deputies to the Dáil.

Limerick will now be split between a 4 seat City constituency and a 3 seat county constituency.

Kerry South TD Michael Healy Rae says the challenge does not frighten him.
