A 49-year-old barrister has gone on trial having been accused of harassing a younger colleague.

Paul McLoughlin of North Circular Road, Dublin denies harassing Lorcan Staines between 2006 and 2010

Lorcan Staines has told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court that the older colleague left over 120 “abusive and intimidating” messages on his voicemail and called him many times late at night because he had earlier refused to meet him for a coffee.

He broke down as he told the jury he felt he had to make a formal complaint to the gardaí after almost four years.
