The front of a police vehicle was badly damaged after an explosive was thrown at it in the North, it has emerged today.

The front of a police vehicle was badly damaged after an explosive was thrown at it in the North, it has emerged today.

Officers were conducting a search in the Creggan area of Derry when the “attempted murder” happened, the Police Service of Northern Ireland said.

Nobody was injured during last night’s attack at Rathmore Park. Stones were also thrown at police by youths.

Police appealed for anybody with information to come forward.

A spokesman said: “Detectives in Strand Road are appealing for information following the attempted murder of police officers in the Creggan area of Derry yesterday evening.”
