Dublin boy Sergio recovering from op to close gap in oesophagus

A 15-month-old baby boy from Dublin is recovering from life-altering surgery in the US.
Sergio O'Connor was born with a rare condition causing a 6cm gap in his oesophagus.
He traveled to Boston for a series of operations, which are not available here in Ireland.
Sergio reached an important milestone on Friday when surgeons finally managed to close the hole in his eating tube.
He has been in an induced coma throughout his treatment.
Dad Donal is really looking forward to the day he takes his first bites.
"It'll be a huge milestone. I'll have the camera ready when he takes his first few drops of water and his first meal," he said.
"It's brilliant that it's worked out so well. He's reaching all his milestones since he got here. The treatment has worked out really well for him.
